A pastoral Message about IN-Person Worship

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46

Dear members and friends of Trinity,

As COVID-19 continues to spread in the New York area, we are following the recommendations from our local and state government, and have made the difficult decision suspend in-person worship and related parish activities until it is known that it is safe to do so. At this time, this closure does not apply to our soup kitchen and food pantry, which continues to serve our neighbors.

This is a decision that we have made with great seriousness, knowing that closing the physical church building in this way will most certainly be painful.  However, as followers of Jesus, we are called to embody love in the world, and we believe that the most loving thing for us to do is to practice safe social distancing practices and to limit the risk of infection among us.

In lieu of in-person worship, are livestreaming a Service of the Word from the sanctuary Sunday mornings at 11:00.  You can find the livestream on our facebook page, www.facebook.com/TrinityLES.

Not gathering for worship will certainly have negative financial impacts on Trinity.  If you have not already done so, we encourage you to make contributions online at www.trinitylowereastside.org/give so that we can come through this ordeal as unscathed as possible.

Times like these make us realize the importance of coming together as members of a shared humanity.  Rather than retreat in fear, find ways to show love to your neighbors.  Resist the instinct to horde, and share what you have.  And please, take time to breathe and center yourself in prayer.  Strengthened by our faith, we will get through this together!

Yours in Christ,

Pastor Will Kroeze

We are Trinity Lower East Side

Founded in 1843, we are a vibrant, inclusive parish with a strong sense of mission and outreach.

But as diverse as we are, our life together is grounded in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, and in the rich liturgical tradition of the Lutheran church.

All Are Welcome*

We are ecumenical,  inclusive of LGBTQIA+ peoples, and concerned about ministry to the poor and hungry.

Trinity is a proud Reconciling Works member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).  We are 3.8 million Christians in 10,000 churches who believe that the good news of Jesus is the core of our faith and life.

*There is no invisible asterisk for us when we say "All are welcome." We really do mean ALL when we say it.
